Quicktime Conversion Tips

by Kisses @ MySpace

You are able to upload 4 clips at a max of 100MB each. I would upload 4 different compressed versions of the same clip, one after each other until I found a setting that was accepted. If you are too paranoid to delete a clip that has been processing since October 2003, then just upload another one, and another, and another, till all four spots are filled, and delete them as they fail.

For MACINTOSH conversion. You need QuickTime Pro 6 or later.
I’ve successfully uploaded many clips for myself and others with these settings.
File>Export
Choose Export "Movie to MPEG-4"
Click the "Options..." button
General tab>
Video Track: Choose "Improved"
(note: if it is already chosen, click on it and choose it again, this will set all other tab setting to their default)
Size: "320x240"
Audio Track: Music
Video tab>
Video Track: Improved
The slider should be between 32 and 536 kbits/second at 256.
(note: the information at the bottom of this window should say 256 kbits/second)
Frames per second: 24
Key frame every 24 frames
Audio tab>
Audio Track: Music
The slider should be between 76 and 136 kbits/second at 128.
(note: if you were to click on it, it would be at 128k)
Channels: Stereo
Streaming tab>
Hinting type: Streaming (basic)
Maximum packet size: 1450 bytes
Maximum packet duration 100 ms
Compatibility tab>
Compatibility type: ISMA
Connection speed: ANY
Click OK and save the file.

DO NOT UPLOAD files between 2:PM pst and 11:PM pst. MySpace gets heavy traffic during these times and uploads tend to TIME OUT

editors note: you can use the same settings in QT Pro for PC as well to create quicktime films
